Assistant Professor Sitthichoke Janyong, Vice President of the Trang Campus, shared that this event has been held regularly for many years. Originally named “Meenakorn Relations,” it was later renamed “Samed Khao Relations” to reflect the abundance of Samed Khao trees on the university grounds, which have become a symbol of Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya, Trang Campus. The event, held from July 11–13, 2024, serves as an extracurricular program designed to enhance students’ potential, foster teamwork, and provide opportunities for personal expression. Organized by the Student Union from all three divisions, the event was supervised by faculty and staff to ensure it was conducted safely, with discipline, and to promote positive relationships among participants.
Ms. Krittira Phongsri, Secretary of the Student Union and a second-year student majoring in Marine Science in the Faculty of Science and Fisheries Technology, explained that the event included activities such as cheer practice and rehearsing the university’s anthem, where new students were guided by senior students. To motivate participation, a cheer competition was organized, along with fun games involving faculty and staff to help break the ice and create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere. The event aimed to promote unity, pride in the Rajamangala institution, and foster a sense of camaraderie. Additionally, it raised awareness about drug prevention on campus and encouraged students to work together, provide academic support, and strive toward shared success.
First-year student Pawanrat Nakkaew, who is majoring in Business Innovation Management at the College of Hospitality and Tourism, expressed her appreciation for the event, particularly the wrist-tying ceremony, where she was warmly welcomed by the second-year students. She felt that the friendly atmosphere motivated her to focus on her studies and inspired her to become a role model for future students. She added that the event allowed her to form new friendships and connect with her mentor, who has been supportive and ready to offer advice. The experience also inspired her to develop leadership qualities and embrace the value of selflessness.
