On Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 6:30 a.m., Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RMUTSV), in collaboration with its Alumni Association, hosted the inaugural charity walk-run event, “Ruam Kao… Kong Rak Rajamangala,” in honor of His Majesty the King’s 72nd birthday, marking six cycles (72 years) of his life. The event was organized to express loyalty and gratitude to His Majesty by embracing his advocacy for health and wellness through exercise. Additionally, it aimed to strengthen the bonds between faculty, staff, alumni, current students, and the general public.
The event took place simultaneously across all RMUTSV campuses, including Songkhla, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Trang. Proceeds from the sale of event shirts will be directed toward scholarships for outstanding RMUTSV students, supporting those with strong academic performance, good conduct, and other merit-based achievements. This initiative aligns with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation’s policy of fostering engagement and positive relations between academic institutions and the wider community, encouraging public participation through activities like these.
At the Trang Campus, Assistant Professor Sitthichoke Janyong, Vice President of the Trang Campus, presided over the opening ceremony. More than 500 participants, including university leadership, faculty members, staff, students, and members of the public, gathered at the Trang Campus Administrative Building for the event. The ceremony commenced with the Vice President offering floral tributes, incense, and candles before His Majesty the King’s portrait, followed by a blessing and well-wishing speech. He then officiated the start of the walk-run, which followed a scenic route through secondary roads within the Trang campus, covering a distance of over 3 kilometers.
The event was not only a demonstration of reverence for His Majesty but also a successful initiative in promoting physical well-being and community spirit.
